Medicare Open Enrollment Period

October 14, 2014

October 15, 2014 marks the beginning of the 2015 Medicare Open Enrollment Period, which runs through December 7, 2014. During this time, people on Medicare can switch Medicare Advantage plans, change their choice of health coverage, and add, drop or change Medicare drug coverage. Enrollees can make as many changes as they need during this period, but changes will not take effect until January 1, 2015.

The open enrollment period is a great time for all enrollees to review their current Medicare coverage and compare it with other Medicare options available in their area to see which plan will best meet their needs in the upcoming year. As always, staff and volunteers of the Minnesota Board on Aging’s Senior LinkAge Line®: A One Stop Shop for Minnesota Seniors are available to provide unbiased and neutral assistance by calling at 1-800-333-2433 or online by visiting www.MinnesotaHelp.info® and using the chat live feature or leaving an email after business hours.

In addition, The Minnesota Board on Aging published its 2015 edition of Health Care Choices for Minnesotans on Medicare booklet. This annual guide contains comprehensive information about Medicare plan options in Minnesota. Health Care Choices is available online or by calling the Senior LinkAge Line®: A One Stop Shop for Minnesota Seniors at 1-800-333-2433 to receive a copy by U.S. mail.
