2017 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Conference
April 20, 2017
This year marks the 12th anniversary of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in the United States and the 11th annual event in Minnesota.
Each June, the Minnesota Elder Justice Center along with their sponsors, which includes the MN Board on Aging, sponsor a full-day professional education conference in conjunction with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day to strengthen the mission to combat elder abuse.
Approximately 500 professionals working with older and vulnerable adults are expected to attend this year’s conference. This includes representatives from Adult Protection Services, State Agencies, Non-Profits, Attorneys, Social Workers, representatives from the Criminal Justice System, Law Enforcement, and Long-term Care Providers just to name a few.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is also supportive of the United Nations International Plan of Action which recognizes the significance of elder abuse as a growing social and financial concern, a public health matter, and a human rights issue.
The conference will be held on June 14th at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Click here for more information.
